Broken Tribe

BROKEN TRIBE

Even though BROKEN TRIBE is a relatively new band (formed in 2006) the majority of the Band’s members have been around the rock music scene of both Greece and Cyprus for the last 16 years with a quite remarkable contribution.

As a result the band has participated in Live Rock Concerts sponsored and covered at  a national level by the state channel (Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation - CyBC) and also have participated in CyBC’s CD production: ‘Tribute to Rock Music’ – 2004 with the participation of the 3 most known bands in Cyprus (the band at the time was known a TRIPLE JAM).

The band has frequent performances on the most known rock stages on the island performing in venues in front of audiences that their number ranges from 50 to 6000..  At the time they are performing mainly as a cover band as their debut album is expected within 2010.

BROKEN TRIBE band members are:

Marios Avxendiou - Vocals
Member of the first rock band to ever produce an album in Cyprus in 1991 (ACCIDENTALS), which literally opened the way for other bands to follow based on the particular circumstances of the music industry of the island. Holder of three University Degrees in the UK and living there for the period of his studies however has maintained contact with the band members which formed the band TRIPLE JAM. His voice capabilities (sounds-like a mix of Robert Plant – LED ZEPPELIN and Bryan Johnson – AC/DC) have kept him on stage until now with BROKEN TRIBE.

Manolis Vourakis – Guitars
A Berklee College Of Music Alumnus.  Session and studio artist. Also a member of BluesWire – one of the most established blues bands in Europe – based in Greece.  Many recording credits.

Omiros Andreou - Bass
Session and studio artist with performances in most venues in the island.  Studied classical piano theory and harmony and attended private lessons in electric bass, jazz harmony and improvisation techniques in Greece.  He is a member of the State’s TV folk orchestra.

Stefanos Meletiou – Drums
Stefanos is the junior member of the bank (only 19). He studied drums from the age of 9 (nine).  He also studied classical piano theory and harmony.  His talent was discovered when he won the national contest of young drummers in 2005.  Another credential is that he is the youngest member of the State’s TV folk orchestra.
