Myrto Meletiou

Born on the island of Cyprus in 1982, Myrto Meletiou is a self-inspired artist who has started her music career at the age of five. She took part in many musicals and concerts that took place in Cyprus in cooperation with the Russian Cultural Center and the British Association for actors and actresses, such as “Mother Goose”, “Robinson Crusoe, “Demons and Fairies,” “Cabaret,” and others. She wrote her first song at the age of seven, and has kept writing and performing her own songs at a later age all over Cyprus, Italy, Greece and New York City. Entering the “Cyprus College” talent show in 2003, Myrto won 1st prize for singing and dancing as well as 2nd and 3rd prize for her lyrics, short stories and poetry. Her work was honored and published in Cyprus College’s Literary Magazine. Critics and the public were astonished by the power of her lyrics which were inspired by writers and poets like Sylvia Plath, W.B .Yates, N. Kazantzaki, C. Kavafis, etc. Myrto was also involved in a literary project called “Klandestini” done in cooperation with publicists in Malta and the “British Council of Cyprus. 

 As a writer, Myrto has received several awards for her poems and short stories, having some of them published 5 times in 3 different countries. In 2006 she was chosen by the “Directorate General for Translation” (DGT) of the European Commission to have her poetry and short stories included in an Anthology series. Her singing performance is influenced greatly by soul, rock, pop and funk music, and some of her favorite artists among others are: Sting, Tori Amos, Aretha Franklin and Jewel. She appeared in several T.V. shows, and won the 2nd place in 2004 Eurovision song contest semi-finals, receiving an invitation to work with several known artists on the island and abroad. She performed in the musical “The Producers” as a singer/dancer/actress, and was a finalist in the reality talent show "Pop-Stars", signing a 5-year contract with Warner Productions in Greece. She obtained a BA degree in Psychology and a Certificate in Dance and Performance from Broadway Dance Center in New York City. She received dance, voice and performance classes from few of the best and known (Rhapsody, Maria Torres, Luam, Bev Brown, Germaine, Laine Munro, Samuels) and was a possible candidate of the "Outstanding Student Award". In New York, she auditioned for some of the biggest musicals and bands (“Rent” musical - finalist, The World Disney Company - finalist, Cirque Du Soleil, “Urban Sun” Band - singer, Wisdom Entertainment – singer/song writer, Milestar Entertainment – singer/song writer) receiving the best of comments. She took part in concerts/shows all over Manhattan (Skirball Center of NYU, Symphony Space Theater, etc.) and drew the attention of local TV and radio stations, where she was later invited to give her first interviews in the Big Apple. In 2007 she returned to Cyprus to complete her first personal CD Single entitled “Fly Away”, which was released in November 2008, and consists of 3 English pop-rock songs. “Fly away”, the featured song of the single, became “Song of the week” in the local radio stations after its first week of release. 

For the purpose of this gig she has gathered some of the most talented musicians on the island and has formed her own band. 
Constantinos Pavlides (Drums) has been a member of the SULPHUR GENERATION band since 2003, but also plays as a session drummer with many different bands exploring various music genres. He graduated from Nakas Conservatoire (Athens, Greece) in 2005 with a degree in modern music and drums. In 2005 he moved to the Netherlands and had private lessons followed by several workshops in Greece and Holland. Since 2006 he has been studying Jazz at the Royal Conservatoire of The Netherlands. 
Evelthon Michaelides (bass) is a graduate of Berklee College of music Boston ('91) with B.A. in performance. He is experienced in styles such as jazz, rock, funk, fusion and Latin and is the founder of "New Dimensions", one of the first and longer existing jazz bands in Cyprus, while in the meantime teaches, performs and records with various local and foreign artists.
Paris Meletiou (piano) has completed 2 piano diplomas in classical studies from the Royal School of Music and the Guildhall Academy of Music and Drama. He also studied the "Creative Music Technology - Course" at Bath-Spa University College in England and is currently working for a record label in Athens as a music producer and composer. He has also worked with various composers and singers on numerous projects, such as songs, albums, documentaries, tv series,TV and radio jingles.
Ermis Michail, is a 20 year old talent, currently studying jazz guitar at Codarts Conservatorium of Rotterdam in The Netherlands. He participated in the recording of a CD accredited by the Ministry of Education and Anti-Drug Council of Cyprus, and is plays with various bands his own as well as a vast variety of compositions ranging from jazz to blues, funk, and fusion styles.
